A brief summary of who we are:
In 2021 our family moved to Northern Michigan where we bought a small farm with the goal of raising kids in nature and peacefulness. What started with a handful of chickens, we continue to grow and shape our little piece of heaven into a low maintenance, productive, and simple happy place. We now maintain a winter flock of around 30 laying hens, we have three friendly Highland cows (two heifers and a bull), a barn cat, an Anatolian Shepherd, and two lovely house dogs.
Last year we managed to grow a prosperous garden and plant the beginnings of an orchard. We also raised 8 turkeys and around 40 cornish cross chickens. This season we will continue to establish an “edible forest” full of fruit trees, a variety of berry bushes, and native pollinator flowering zones. In addition to doubling down on our freezer poultry from last season, this year we will also raise pigs in preparation for Sara’s future Italian focused meat hobby (to go along with her fresh pasta making).
